Auction #5 - June 2020

In the early 1950's putting trading cards on jello boxes was all the rage. No one was more adept at advertising that way than was Royal Jello. Royal issued cards on the back of their boxes for series of Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Movie Stars, Soldiers, Howdy Doody Coloring cards, Airplanes, Alice in Wonderland and Howdy Doody. No other cartoon character was more popular in the early 1950's than was Howdy Doody. The F219-7 Royal Desserts Howdy Doody set is a (15) card set issued one per box on the back of Royal Jello.
This lot is for a group of (4) Royal Dessert cards cut from the back of Jello. The numbers include #1 Howdy Doody, #2 Mr. Bluster, #5 The Inspector and #8, Clarabel the clown.
The cards are well cut and in mostly VG to EX condition with few blemishes. Unlike the other three cards, the Clarabell card does not have the dotted lines to be used for cutting. These (4) cards are the complete back panel from the jello boxes and not just the cut cards. Great lot for the set builder.
