Auction #3 - October 2019

The 1960's were an era of test issues and also for non-card issues for Topps. Test issues that took the form of many different items--not only cards. All thrown against the wall--some stuck, some didn't. This continued into the early to mid 1970's.
Topps issued the Wise Guy buttons in 1965 and they were somewhat reminiscent of the 1910's Tokio "I'm the Guy" buttons but in a larger format and stamped tin lithograph pinbacks. The pins were 2.0" in diameter. This lot includes (5) of the 1965 Topps Wise Guy buttons including the following titles: "Down with Homework", "Down with Everything", "Stamp out Report Cards", "I was born this way, what's your excuse" and "Get Off My Back."
Topps issued the (24) button set Smarty Buttons in 1969. This lot includes (8) of the buttons from the set including the following titles: "Flattery will get you anything", "Are you putting me on?", "You're a gas", "Hooray for me", "Don't Touch", "If you can read this you are standing too darn close", "Take me, I'm young", "Is it fun to be a nut?".
All (13) pins in the lot are in what I would consider about VGEX to EX condition with clean backs, all pins intact and no rusting. There are the occasional scratches on them which should be clearly visible from the large photos.
