The N375 Ellis Tobacco Breeds of Dogs series is a set of (25) cards issued by Ellis Tobacco with three different brands of their cigarettes--Triplex, Bengals Cheroots and Tiger cigarettes. The cards in the set can be found with bottom front advertising for each of these three brands offering up a total of (75) different variations for the set. Arguably the most beautiful dog cards of the 19th century tobacco cards, this set is very popular with collectors.
This pair of N375 Ellis Tobacco Breeds of Dogs includes cards with both Tiger Cigarettes and Bengal Cheroots advertising. The Tiger Cigarettes card pictures the Newfoundland dog and is in about G condition with a dot of paper loss on the front left border. The back is relatively clean. The second card features the Bengal Cheroots advertising at the bottom and is in about VG condition with a clean back. This would be a good lot for the typecard collector or the H. Ellis or Dog card collector.
