This lot is for a small booklet detailing the Surgeon General of the United States Navy (Series I). The book was issued by the Maltine Company of Brooklyn, New York and offers details about the first eight Surgeons-General of the U.S. Navy. The outer cover has a very condition sensitive glassine cover. The inner book is in VGEX to EX condition with the outer glassine cover being in Good condition. Great, early piece from this cracker company. The first surgeon general, William P.C. Barton is pictured on the inside glassine cover. He served from 1842-1844. The dates served of the first (8) Surgeon Generals would conclude around 1873 but this booklet is likely produced much later than that.
