The N146 Set from Duke's Tobacco are slightly larger than the N145 series but smaller than the larger, oversized Duke cards of the same timeframe. The series can be found with Duke's Mixture on the front at the bottom or with Duke of Durham. The series contains a number of politicians, actors and actresses and other celebrities of the day.
This lot is for a pair of cards from the N146 Duke Tobacco Actresses and Celebrities set. The cards include the smaller format card from Duke's Mixture of Sam J. Randall in EX condition. Randall was the 29th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. The other card is the larger format card from the series from Duke of Durham picturing Senator Ransom of North Carolina in about EX condition. Matt Whitaker Ransom was a Civil War Brigadier General. After the Civil War, he had a long career in politics in many aspects including being a U.S. Senator from North Carolina from Jan 30, 1972 through March 4, 1895. Great pair of cards from this set
