Auction #7 - February 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2021
The S62 "Girls" silk sets come in various sizes from about 2x2 inches up to 8x8 inches. The silks were inserts in tobacco products or redemption goods for coupons that were inserted into tobacco products during the 1910-1920 timeframe.
This lot is for a single silk from the S62-2 "Girls" set. This silk is slightly larger than the ones in the previous lot, measuring about 2-3/4" by 3" in size and different from those as well in that it has a blue background. The image on the silk is also not woven but printed on the silk. The silk is numbered "1" in the lower left corner and has the Factory No. 649-1st District New York printed on it as well. There is some light fraying around the outside of the silk, but, unlike the others from the previous lot, this one has not been sewn into anything larger and, as such, is in better overall condition.
