Goodwin Tobacco and their product "Old Judge" is very popular with collectors. Goodwin issued large sized sets of actresses, baseball players, boxers and other subjects during the 1880's into very early 1890's. To advertise their products, Goodwin produced a number of pieces meant to be put in the windows of retailers of tobacco and cigarettes and employed colorful ads to sway the public from another product to their product.
This advertising piece measures a substantial 11-1/4" wide by 8" tall and, other than full advertising posters, is one of the larger format advertising pieces put out by Goodwin. This piece is numbered "4" in the upper left and has the taglines of "sold all over the world" and "beats the world". The piece is extremely colorful and pictures a man and woman amorously walking down the street arm in arm next to a brick wall with a small church in the distance. Just a great advertising piece and very scarce piece of advertising from Goodwin and Old Judge.
