The founders of the nonsport card collecting hobby can be counted on just a few fingers. Chief among them are Jefferson Burdick and E.C. Wharton-Tigar. Wharton-Tigar was to card collecting in the U.K. as Jefferson Burdick was to our hobby in the United States. Wharton-Tigar's collection now resides in the Royal Museum in London. Wharton-Tigar's personal history reads almost like a spy novel as well.

This lot is for a single sheet letter from E.C. Wharton-Tigar to S.J. Makowsky of Brooklyn, NY from 21 April 1977. He notes in the letter that a couple books he posted to the letter's recipient were lost in the mail and he was sending replacements.
