The 1949 Topps Metallic President Coin set is a (32) coin set with all the presidents from George Washington through Harry S. Truman. The coins were inserted into the "It Happened To a President" wrappers with a piece of gum. In addition to the coins, there was a popular coin folder that was a redemption piece.
This lot includes a group of (24) metallic coins believed to be the 1949 Topps series. The coins in the lot include the following presidents: Ulysses S. Grant, Madison, Monroe, Andrew Jackson(2), Wm. Henry Harrison(2), Tyler, Wilson, Jefferson, Adams, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland, Taylor, McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, Taft, Pierce, Polk, FDC, Hoover and Fillmore. In addition to the (24) coins with (22) different comes a leather type album with the original box that appears to have been made available for this set. It is possible these same coins were used for another promotion but we have not seen this type of album for this coin set in the past. The front cover pictures the Statue of Liberty as the center image and the spine of the album states "A Coin History of our Presidents" and "USA Liberty Edition". There is separation on the top spine of the album but it is otherwise in about VGEX to EX condition.
