The R722 classification has been expanded to include (31) sets according to non-sport.com. The classification covers candy boxes with perforated cards meant to be punched out and collected into sets. Most are or were issued by the Novel or Leader Novelty companies of New York. Most sets contain (12) different subjects or boxes and generally they have some narrative and number printed on the back of the card or inside of the box.
The R722-5 group covers the boxes for Pirate Adventures. Famous Pirates like Blackbeard, Pierre La Grand and others are pictured inside what looks to be wooden frames with their names on nameplates at the bottom of the card. There are (12) cards in the R722-5 Pirate Adventures complete set.
This lot is for a group of (5) R722-5 Novel Package Pirate Adventures to include the following subjects: #2 Capt. John Avery, #5 Bart Portugese, #7 Pierre La Grand, #9 Blackbeard and #10 Rock Braziliano. The cards range in condition between Fair and VGEX with most being around VG. Great lot representing nearly 1/2 of the complete set of (12).
