Allen & Ginter was arguably the most prolific Tobacco advertiser during the 1880's and 1890's. Tobacco Insert cards, tobacco cabinets, albums, banners and many other forms of advertising were employed by A&G for their many brands such as Our Little Beauties, Richmond Long Cut, Sunny South and so many more. One of the earlier mechanisms for advertising for A&G was to advertise on both stock trade cards and trade cards made especially for A&G using their images. The stock trading cards were not only used by A&G but were also used by other companies and are called "Stock" because they were produced with blank backs, having the advertising added by printers typically after the main image on the front was printed.

This lot of (6) Allen & Ginter Our Little Beauties Trade cards picture small children in various scenes with advertising on the back of the card for Allen & Ginter. The trade card sets came in groups of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and larger at times and were used as point of sales giveaways in most cases to advertise the products of companies in an effort to drive sales. Gathering trade cards and gluing them into period Victorian albums was a big hobby in the middle to later 19th century, so it was natural for companies to employ this type of inexpensive advertising. This group of (6) cards have been cataloged in the World Tobacco Index (WTI) as catalog A36-108-8(b). The cards are mostly in VGEX to EX with a couple lower.
