Auction #6 - October 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/25/2020
The American Card Catalog has a number of obscure tobacco companies listed in the back of the section for the 19th century tobacco cards. They are generally listed in the N600 and up range and cover cards organized into small tobacco cards and larger cards and include some subjects from advertisers that are particularly difficult to obtain. Type Card collectors are constantly looking for tougher tobacco actress cards and this lot is no different with the N628 H. Bohl's & Company Actress cards. Not a lot is known about H. Bohl's but Jefferson Burdick cataloged them as N628 in the American Card Catalog. Non-sport.com lists (13) known subjects in the series.
This lot is for a trio of H. Bohl's & Company actress cards to include the subjects Lillian Grubb, Miss Dupree and Bessie Cleveland. The cards are in G to VG with the Dupree having a slanted trim to the top of the card, the Grubb card having a slight notch in the upper left corner and Cleveland having a lighter photo quality than the other two. Still, the lot represents a good opportunity to grab a trio of cards that are rarely seen.
