The N50 Ships set is an interesting set of cards picturing famous ships. Most of the ships are of U.S. livery but there are also some foreign ships and some famous ships like the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria of Columbus fame. The set contains (45) cards that are readily available and three others that, while included in the checklist for the set, are likely from another set. Those three are of subjects "The Big Four", Mayflower and Puritan. Those (3) subjects have not been seen to date. The cards can be found with blank backs or with advertising on the back. The adversiting on the back can be from Sweet Caporal (Kinney), Virginia Brights (Allen & Ginter) or Vanity Fair (Kimball). The set offers the variation collector or master set collector a good challenge to pick up all the known varieties for each of those (45) cards.
This lot is for a pair of cards from the N50 Ships set to include the subjects Cushing USN (blank back) and Chicago USN (Sweet Caporal back). The Cushing USN card is in about GVG with creasing mainly evident on the back with the Chicago USN subject being in about VGEX to weak EX condition.
