The N45 Allen & Ginter Virginia Brights Actresses set is one of a myriad of actress sets issued in what is believed to have been the 1887-1890 period. The N45's can be found in a variety of formats with some subjects appearing in multiple formats with different typesetting at the bottom front and with or without the subject identified. The set numbers into the high hundreds if not thousands of cards and offer the variation collector a great opportunity to pick up cards for a great collection. As with all other 19th century Albumen photo cards, the photo clarity can run the gamut on these cards.
This lot includes a pair of cards from the N45 Allen & Ginter Virginia Brights actresses set picturing the subject Lori Monti. Interestingly, the two cards are of two different formats--one picturing the Virginia Brights "wave" advertising on the front bottom of the card and the other picturing the Virginia Brights block letter advertising. Both cards have been graded PSA8 NMMT. To find a single N45 card that is in good enough condition to grade PSA8 is an achievement but to find a pair of the same subject with different variations is a great opportunity for the high grade type collector to add a great pair of cards to an already high grade collection.
