The L.M. Becker company of Appleton, Wisconsin issued a number of 'quirky' sets during the 1960's primarily and the Elephant Jokes set just may be the most quirky of them all. The set pictures crude line drawings of elephants along with a posed question on the front of the card with the humorous answer on the back. All of which are joes about elephants. Some are actually kind of funny but overall they are all pretty cheesy. The backgrounds on the cards can be found with red, yellow, aqua, pink or green. The cards came in a glassine type sleeve or wrapper and the tops were stapled. There were five cards in each 'package'.
This near set of (44/50) cards from the W534 L.M. Becker Elephant jokes set are all of the yellow or red background variety. There are six missing cards to be complete: 9, 12, 16, 21, 22 and 24. The cards are mostly EXMT to NRMT condition and very clean front and back.
