The Globe Tobacco Company issued (5) sets of tobacco cards during the late 1880's to early 1890's, all of which are tougher to obtain than the average tobacco cards. The N544 series of actresses advertised their "Relief" brand of Long Cut tobacco and pictured a color chromolithographed picture set against a black border with a black back on the cards. Non-sport.com checklists a single card and the card offered here is a different subject than that card.
This lot is for a single N544 Globe Tobacco Co Relief Long Cut Type card of an actress. The card has a crease across shoulder high but has a clean front and back otherwise. This is a very rare card and some of the best type card collections are likely missing a type from this classification.
