This cabinet is one of many that Allen & Ginter used as point of sale advertising for their tobacco products, likely in the 1880's. Subjects included actors, women on bicycles, cigar making women, flags and government buildings among others. Richard Mansfield was an English-born actor known for his performances in Shakespeare plays, Gilbert and Sullivan operas, and the play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Mansfield passed away in 1907. It is of normal cabinet size at 4.5 by 6.5 inches. The front exhibits great photo clarity and the back is very clean. The cabinet advertises for Allen & Ginter's Richmond Straight Cut Cigarettes.
