Inaugural January 2019 Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/27/2019
Fantastic lot of (3) blankets issued in the 1910's picturing early airplanes. All three airplanes were built and flown in the 1909/1910 timeframe. The Wright Biplane was designed by Howard Wright in England, not the Wright brothers in the U.S. The Farman Biplane was built by Henry Farman in 1909. These felts can be found on multiple colored backgrounds, all with white printing on them. They're not particularly easy to find, possibly because there is no manufacturer on them. It's believed that they are a tobacco product and they're generally listed as such in most of the guides.
The felts measure 3" by 6" in size and the three in this lot are in particularly good condition with clean backs. They include Astra Monoplane (orange felt), Farman Biplane (light blue felt) and Wright Biplane (yellow felt).
