The Phoenix Candy Company of Brooklyn, New York issued a number of candy boxes--largely in the late 1960's into the 1970's. Typically, the series were eight boxes in size with the occasional (6) or (12) box set. The boxes of candy--in most instances have a theme for the set and included candy and plastic novelties inside the box. Non-sport.com lists 21 different Phoenix candy box sets with a wide array of topics. The later series all seemed to revolve around television or movies. Each box within a given set has a character from the television series or movie and the boxes are almost always numbered within the series.
The "Happy Days" set pictures characters from the television series of the same name. The boxed set was issued in 1976--right at the height of the television show that ran from 1974 through 1984 and pictured the antics of high school students and their families in the 1960's. The series was a regular weekly staple and featured the iconic characters of Arthur Fonzarelli, Richie Cunningham, Ralph Malph and so many more. It also introduced us to Laverne & Shirley which was to become another iconic 1970's television show.
This set of (8) boxes is largely in VG to EX condition with most being VGEX. Each box pictures two face panels--one picturing some pose of Arthur Fonzarelli and another featuring another character on the back of the box. In addition to the eight boxes, there are also a couple of the plastic novelties that were included in the boxes as an example. Just a great opportunity to get this complete set of boxes, uncut, in one lot.
