Chase & Sanborn was one of many companies issuing trade cards during the World's Fair of 1893--also known as the Columbian Exposition--in Chicago, Illinois. Most all the trade cards pictured the different buildings on the World's Fair grounds. Most series of these cards were issued in sets of 8, 12 or 16. This set was a 50 card set, die cut to a round shape and included cards for all of the states that had buildings at the Fair as well as general buildings comprising the fair grounds. The set was classified as H509 in the trade card section of the American Card Catalog (ACC).

This set is in mostly VGEX to EX condition with a few better and a few worse and is missing a single card of the Art Gallery at the Fair. This is a very tough set to complete and individual cards have sold for upwards of $50 in ebay auctions.
