One of the most famous Broadway photographers in New York was Napoleon Sarony. His photos are synonymous with Broadway stars of the 1870's and 1880's. About the same time, in Boston, Elmer Chickering was making a living as one of the most famous Boston photographers. He photographed a number of Broadway stars as well as Baseball players and other famous celebrities. The photos of both Sarony and Chickering are highly collectible today.
This lot contains a pair of Sarony Cabinet cards and a pair of Chickering Cabinet cards. All four have the actor/actresses names printed on the front of the cabinet. The Sarony pair includes Lawrence Barrett "1891" and E.H. Sothern. The Chickering pair includes Fannie Davenport and Annie Pixley. All four are in about EX condition without regard to the backs, which in all cases have some light pencil writing on them and the Sothern cabinet has some stamps on the back from the publicity companies who owned the photos previously.
