The 1954 Bowman Power for Peace set is a (96) card set picturing U.S. Armed Services from all branches and the weapons and equipment from those branches--ships, planes and vehicles. The set is cataloged R701-10 in the American Card Catalog and is one of a number of nonsports sets that Bowman issued in the 1950's. The cards are full color cards with no graphics on the front and very similar to the 1953 Bowman Color baseball set. The red white and blue backs have a nice narrative about the picture on the front.
One of the first series to feature
photographs, in this case of the military might of the United States. 96 cards in total. Card backs
contain informative descriptive material. High-grade cards from this series are in abundant supply
(albeit frequently off-center), except for this card- the toughest in the set to obtain in superior
condition, by far!. PSA has graded just four cards higher than this. If you are putting together a
high-grade set, this may be your best opportunity in years to obtain a strong #1 card.
