The 1953 Topps Fighting Marines set is a (96) card set of slightly smaller format cards from Topps. They are equivalent to the Look 'N See and Scoops cards of a similar time period. The cards picture Marines fighting all around the world in combat and picture their bravery to help keep America free. A number of the cards are short-printed and very difficult to find.
This 96-card series, issued in small format,
is a glorious gem, with red-white-and blue borders and color art. It depicts events, both fictional
and actual, involving US Marines in the Korean War, and was issued just before its conclusion.
The second 48 cards are generally considered rarer than the first 48. Overall condition averages
a tad below EX-MT, with many high-grade cards. Included are three PSA-graded cards, with an
average grade of 5.0. Card #74, a key card, is PSA-graded VG-EX 4; only four cards have been
graded higher, the highest only EX-MT 6! All cards stored in Cardsaver 1 holders and mounted in
plastic pages in a looseleaf binder, for convenient viewing. Fun!
