The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot is for a group of (3) of the green mounted numbered N566 Newsboy Tobacco Actress cabinets. The subjects include #363 Effie Shannon (Good with Red Indian Cut Plug ad on back), #335 M'lle Naya in EX and #336 Marie Jansen in Fair with small nick in lower right and crease in upper left.
