The L1-L9 leathers are the largest leather premiums that were issued in the 1910's as premiums from tobacco purchases through saving coupons. They are die cut to look like animal hides and then have an image stamped onto the leather. The L4 is a subset of this run of leathers that contains (5) different military men on horseback. Those subjects include Lee, Grant, Washington, Napoleon and Buffalo Bill that is in this lot.
This leather measures about 6" x 9" in size and is in what would be best described as Fair to Good condition with obvious flaws. Still, one of the more difficult types of leathers that is tough to find in any condition.
