Bob Lemke spent 30 years in sportscards publishing, as an editor and graphics artist. He
conceived the notion of creating fantasy nonsports cards which would replicate the look and feel of actual
1950s Topps series, but would add subject matter notoriously missing from the original. Bob issued
dozens of these cards, which, because of his skills, are virtually indistinguishable from the appearance of
the original issue. Sadly, Bob died several years ago, but his spectacular contribution to the hobby lives
after him. You can still visit his blog at https://boblemke.blogspot.com/.
We all know that the 1955 Topps
“Rails & Sails” series ended at card #200, but this lot contains card #210, one of Bob’s creations. It
features a portrait of the ill-fated R.M.S. Titanice. Bob was so enamoured of this ship, he created three
cards of it, all with the same number! Perfect centering, NM-MT grade, and oh so much fun!
