The Donat Gum company of France issued a number of sets in the 1930's that were issued with their Gum products. Many of these sets have the 'look' of 1930's U.S. card sets. The Donat Movie Stars set is noted as a 144 card set on the back although a number of card #'s are not checklisted. The cards can typically be found with a blue or brown tone and cards can be found with either tone. The cards include at least some U.S. stars like Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich and Jeanette McDonald. In addition to the U.S. stars there are many, many French stars including some that did movies in the U.S. like Maurice Chevalier. The backs and fronts are numbered with a short narrative in French on the back of the cards that match the scene on the front.
This lot of (42) 1930's Donat Gum (France) Movie Stars cards are in Good to EX condition with most being VG/VGEX. This is a great lot of these rarely seen cards.
