The T175 Sweet Caporal Cigarettes Heroes of the Spanish-American War set is a (50) card set of cards featuring people involved with the Spanish-American War. The War kicked off with the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898. The war lasted from April 21 through August 13th. The set was issued on the inner slides of the tobacco packs and each inner slide had two different cards. The cards were cut from the packaging and are often found in lower condition. The grading companies will grade them but are notoriously difficult on grading.
This pair of cards from the T175 Sweet Caporal Spanish American Heroes series are cut from some type of advertising piece or possibly larger box or carton. The McKinley Card has an overprint with a "B" and what appears to be a "U" and the second card does not have the normal caption of the subject's name and position but it is of Adlai Stevenson. Both cards are clean with the Stevenson being trimmed tight to the interior line.
