The 1961 Topps Cars set was one of the earlier forays for Topps into oversized cards. They would use a similar format on the 1965 Football set and the 1969/1970 basketball sets but the format never made it into the baseball world. The card fronts picture bold colored backgrounds with popular sports cars in the foreground. The card backs are the salmon colored format of some of the later football and basketball cards of the same size format. The cards can be found in both white and gray backs.
In addition to the cards, the set also included a set of (20) license plate stickers. The stickers are tougher to find than are the cards.
This complete set of (20) 1961 Topps Sports Cars license plates are in VGEX to EX condition. Six of the stickers have some writing on the back.
