Topps sought to capitalize on the music group the Monkees by issuing a set of cards in 1966 and 1967. The cards were so popular that they issued (3) more series and also a set of "flip books". The Monkees were an American rock and pop band, formed in Los Angeles in 1966, whose lineup consisted of the American actor/musicians Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork alongside English actor/singer Davy Jones. The band was so popular a sitcom of the same name ran for two seasons and 58 episodes from 1966 to 1968 on NBC television.
This lot of (335) total cards from from four different 1966 Topps Monkees sets. There are no complete sets within these groups but the cards are all in high grade--chosen for their centering and corners. Most cards in this group are EXMT to NRMT-MT with most around the NM range. The breakdown on the cards is from the following series: Sepia Series (81), Series "A" Black (158), Series "B" Yellow (64) and Series "C" Pink/Blue Border (32). Great lot for the set builder of 1960's cards.
