The T42 Birds set, like many of the tobacco-era sets, was issued by many different companies in many different products. Whether it's baseball players, fish, flags or birds, sets like T42 offer a set that can be collected in so many different ways. The set totals 100 cards--50 each of two different formats--one a white border format and the other a gold border format. The card backs can be found from different manufacturers and different factories--much like the T206 baseball series of a similar time frame.

This lot of (50) cards is very close to a set of the T42 Bird Series "White Border" cards that also includes a few of the tougher back variations. Within this lot, in addition to the more common Piedmont, Sweet Caporal and Mecca backs there are (4) Old Mill backs including the subjects Great Jacamer, American Goldfinch, Crested Jay and Sap-Sucker as well as a Sovereign-backed copy of the Red Headed Woodpecker card. Cards in the lot average around VG/VGEX condition and mostly clean with a few lesser. A sample group of (10) cards have been scanned with the tough backs and are overall representative of the quality of the cards in the lot.
