The N228 Kinney Novelties is one of the more interesting groups of cards issued during the "N" timeframe of the late 1880's through early 1890's. There are 6 different groupings of cards within the N228 series. The N228-1 Novelties are round, thick cards picturing beautiful ladies of the day. The cards are all head shots and can have backs colored in a number of different colors. The N228-5 subseries includes the artwork from some of the (50) cards from the N228-3B set placed against a white square background of the normal tobacco card size. While the N228-5 subset was believed to contain (50) cards, it has been discovered that that total is likely (44) cards. Six of the (50) subjects have never been seen and are not part of advanced collector's collections.
This lot of Kinney Novelties includes a single N228-3 card of the Artist Pallette with 50 subject back and a pair of N228-5 Square Format cards. The cards are in VG to VGEX condition.
