The Shelby Gum company of North-central Ohio issued the R47 Fighting Planes set in 1930. Aviation and plane spotting was an avid hobby for people both for fun, and, later, to help ensure safety of the USA. The set pictures many of the more famous aircraft of the time in the ever-growing field of aviation. Shelby issued a few sets during this period with their gum products.
This near complete set of (17/24) cards from the R47 Shelby Gum Fighting Planes set are largely in VG to VGEX condition with a couple lesser cards.
