The R89 Gum Inc Mickey Mouse set is a 96 card set of one of the most popular comic characters of all time. Mickey Mouse's popularity exploded in the early 1930's and Gum, Inc of Philadelphia, PA sought to capitalize on that with their set. The set was issued in two different series of 48 cards with each having a companion album. More often than not, the cards found themselves glued into the albums so finding high grade cards is difficult. The type 1 R89 card backs answer the question posed on the front of the card. Type 2 card questions are answered on the next card in the series.
This lot of (39) cards from the R89 Gum Inc Mickey Mouse set are all Type 2 cards and include the following numbers: 2, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13(3), 22, 23, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 34, 35, 37, 38, 44, 46, 47, 51, 52, 55, 60, 61, 62, 66, 75, 77, 78, 85, 86, 89, 90, 91, 93 and 95. The cards generally fall between VG and EX with most around VGEX and a few lesser. Great lot for the set builder that represents almost half of the set.
