In the 1960's Topps sought to take advantage of the popularity of Batman and Robin. The comic book had been around for decades and the TV show just premiered in January of 1966. In 1966, Topps issued (5) Batman sets....the Black Bat, Red Bat, Blue Bat, Bat Laffs and the Riddler sets. The sets were wildly popular in the day and still are.
