Topps issued a number of small card sets in the late 1940's and the 1949 X-Ray Round Up set is one of the neater sets. Issued in packages of Pixie Gum--one card to a piece of gum--the cards picture Cowboys, Indians, Pirates, and other celebrities--real and otherwise. The set of 200 cards are numbered on the front of the card with a back that was meant to be viewed through an orange viewfinder to see what was printed. The cards had a companion album that was available by redemption. The album has slits inside on black pages in which to place the cards.
Condition breakdown on this set is 90% EX to EXMT with many NRMT cards and 10% lesser due to creasing. The album is in VGEX condition. This lot represents a great opportunity to get a tough, turnkey set that only needs a small amount of upgrading to be among the best in the hobby. A few sample pages of card fronts and a single page of card backs have been scanned and are representative of the set as a whole.
