The N223 Kinney Magic Changing Cards is a (50) card set employing a very popular technique of holding something to the light to reveal something more than what is initially seen on the card. The cards have multiple layers and the outer later is typically blank that, when held to the light, will reveal the inner layer graphics. The set is popular with collectors and one of the tougher Kinney sets to complete. There is also a Magic Playing cards set from Kinney as well. Within the N223 set, there is a John L Sullivan boxing card that typically sells for many hundreds of dollars. It is, by far, the toughest card from this set and the Key card.
This lot is for a single N223 Kinney Magic Changing Card of the subject John L. Sullivan. This is the key card from this set and one of only a handful of tobacco cards picturing arguably the most popular boxer of the 19th Century. This card is in Poor condition with a light tear on the right side about 1/4" into the card. Other than this flaw, the card is in about G to GVG condition.
