Kinney Tobacco issued three different horse sets in a small format in the late 1880's to early 1890's. The N229 set were American horses, the N230 were English horses and the N231 set represented Great Trotting horses. The N230 cards as contained in this lot pictured English horses known for winning the bigger races in Europe--especially the English Derby.
This lot includes a group of (57) N229/N230/N231 horse cards from Kinney tobacco. The cards range in condition from poor with back damage and staining through VG with just honest corner and surface wear. A number of the cards have some pencil writing on them. The cards do have a pleasing VG look to them though.
