The R12 America At War set is one of the many strip card sets issued in the mid 1930's to early 1940's. Generally believed to be point of sale items given with candy purchases, Jefferson Burdick cataloged these in the "R" or candy and gum category. The R12 America at War set is believed to be from 1942 due to the images on the cards and the fact that the US did not enter WWII until late 1941. There are a few dozen of these sets and absent any firsthand knowledge, they remain in the "R" category. This set pictures (48) images of the U.S. at War and some of the principles of the war including Stalin, Chang Kai-Shek, Colin P Kelly and General Stillwell. The rest of the images picture planes, tanks, ships and other instruments of war in the middle of combat throughout the theaters where WWII was fought.

These (6) strips contain (8) cards each and are in EXMT to NRMT condition. Most have some very light wear to the corners or edges. The backs are clean and bright with well-printed black printing. The colors are strong and bold. The perforations are still strong and none appear to have been folded for any reason.
