The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot is for a single N566 Newsboy cabinet picturing #4 Lillian Russell. The card is in VG condition with some surface wear to the bottom part of the front of the cabinet. The interior albumen photo is clean and has decent photo clarity.
