The N228 Kinney Novelties is one of the more interesting groups of cards issued during the "N" timeframe of the late 1880's through early 1890's. There are 6 different groupings of cards within the N228 series. The N228-2 Novelties are round, thinner cards picturing beautiful ladies of the day. The cards are all head shots and can have backs colored in a number of different colors. The N228-2 ladies are significantly easier to find and complete than are the N228-1's.
The N228-3 Kinney Tobacco Novelties set is a set of 150 die cut cards that actually are three different subsets of cards in groups of (25), (50) and (75). The set of (75) has all different subjects with the set of (50) being a smaller subset of many of the same images and the set of (25) being an even-smaller subset of images. The backs of the cards note whether the card is from the series of 25, 50 or 75.
This lot of (21) N228 Kinney Novelties includes a group of (6) N228-2 round, thin novelties as well as a group of (15) N228-3 die cut novelties. The cards are all in VG to EX condition, averaging VGEX.
