Auction #11 - June 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/26/2022
This lot is for a single large format advertising piece from Marburg Brothers for their Yale Mixture tobacco. The piece was likely issued right before the turn of the 20th century and is one of the more interesting advertising pieces. The inset picture is embossed in bas-relief and measures 6-1/2" x 10". The full mount measures 9" x 13-1/4". The bottom front of the piece has the Yale Mixture Tobacco advertising on it. The back notes it was created by the Taber Bas-Relief Photograph company which, interestingly, has Alfred S. Campbell as the publisher and president of the company. Campbell was a well known photographer in the New York City area who was responsible for many if not most of the photos in the Newsboy cabinets set of 1895. The piece is in about VGEX condition with just a light stain on the back.
