The N563 Patterson Tobacco Lucky Strike set is what is believed to be a set of (5) cards but could possibly be more. The cards are larger than most 19th century tobacco cards, measuring in at 2-3/4" by 4-1/8" in size. They're printed on typical trade card type stock and picture children. The backs of the cards have advertisement for R.A.Patterson Tobacco Company of Richmond, Virginia and their "Lucky Strike" brand. Lucky Strike was a brand that started here as plug tobacco but evolved into a cigarette company by the early turn of the 20th century. The cigarettes were some of the best selling cigarettes of the 1930's and 1940's. Although the Lucky Strike brand is still active today, it is owned by a British tobacco concern.
This lot is for a single typecard from the N563 Lucky Strike Tobacco Beautiful Cards set. This card has been trimmed at least on the top and right side and is sized quite a bit smaller than normal. It is, however, a very difficult type and would make a good addition to a good type card collection.
