The N566/N567 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot is for a single N567 Newsboy of #345 Grover Cleveland with the green mount. The upper left corner has a chip but the field of the photo is in good shape. Non-actress newsboys are more difficult to find and there are but a few cabinets in the set of any presidents. GVG to VG condition.
