The R5 Wischmann's Gum Aeroplane set was issued in the early to mid 1930's. Aviation was a popular topic and learning more about different airplanes a fun hobby during this time, so it's not surprising that Wischmann's created this 25 card set to entice children to buy their gum. The plain backs on the cards advertise for Wischmann's Picture Pack Gum and state 'This educational card is one of a contemplated series of 250 different kinds'. This set is, however, complete at 25 subjects. One of many 1930's gum sets on aviation, the Wischmann's set is likely the smallest of all of them. The cards measure a diminuitive 1.0 x 1.5 inches in size. This set has been fully graded by SGC and contains a mixture of high and mid grade cards averaging 71.28 or EX 5.5 overall. While there are a few mid-grades, they present nearly as well as the higher grade cards do. Overall, a very pleasing set with phenomenal use of color on a small compact-sized card set.
