The N457-2 Trumps Long Cut Playing cards are one of a number playing card sets issued by tobacco companies. Some, like the N84 Dukes and the N219/N220 Kinney cards are normal sized tobacco cards--similar to the many other sets issued by those companies. The Trumps sets though are larger cards, similar in size to a more normal playing card sized card. The sets within the N457 classification can be generally identified by the markings on the back of the cards and the color of the graphics on the back of the cards. The fronts of the cards are beautiful paintings of women of the day in different poses--some of which are wearing what might be considered burlesque-type clothing. The cards are pretty plentiful and easy to find singles here and there but less commonly found as a complete deck.
This lot of (42) cards from the N457-1A Moore & Calvi Trumps Long Cut Playing cards are the subset with the black backs with white printing. The fronts of the cards have a light beige look to them and picture the same type of busty actress shots that the other subsets of cards do. All card fronts and a sample page of backs have been scanned. The cards are in poor condition with the top layer of the card front being separated from the card back in all cases. With the proper amount of time and care, they could probably be reunited with some type of spray glue but we will leave that to the winner of the lot.
