The Goudey Sport Kings set is a 48 card set and one of the seminal sets issued by Goudey in 1933. The set contains such luminaries as Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth from baseball, Red Grange and Jim Thorpe from football and many more famous sports figures from all types of sports. The cards measure 2 3/8" W by 2 7/8" H and have the customary green ink-printed backs.
This lot is for a single 1933 R338 Goudey Sports Kings picturing card #8 of Walter Hagen--famous golfer. Walter Charles Hagen was an American professional golfer and a major figure in golf in the first half of the 20th century. His tally of 11 professional majors is third behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. The card is in Fair to Good condition with a heavy crease top to bottom but displays nicely.
