In 1964, Topps sought to capitalize on the Beatles craze with a group of (7) different sets. The Beatles had appeared on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9, 1964. Topps seized the opportunity and issued all seven of the Beatles sets during 1964. There were a trio of Beatles Black and White sets, a trio of Color sets and an oddball, oversized, kitchy Beatles plaques set. Most all the sets were between 55 and 64 cards.
This near complete set (62/64) cards is the first of three color issues of Beatles cards during 1964 simply named the "Color" set. The cards are missing cards 20, 62 to be complete. EX condition overall.
