The R164 Gum Inc War Gum set was issued in 1941 right at the beginning of the World War II war effort. The set is a 132 card set picturing famous Americans involved in the war effort and scenes of the war effort itself. There are ships, artillery fire, planes, soldiers, seamen and other scenes in the set. Famous participants in the set include President Roosevelt, Gen Douglas MacArthur, Winston Churchill, George Marshall and others. In general, the cards picturing war heroes are set in a vertical pose and the scenes are in horizontal pose. This is a great set that was one of so very many during World War II.
This lot contains a single R164 Gum Inc War Gum of card #123 "Lieutenant Paine Saves Phyllis" that has been graded PSA7 NM. The card is POP3 with one graded higher. Just a beautiful, clean example of this card.
