The N563 Patterson Tobacco Lucky Strike set is what is believed to be a set of (5) cards but could possibly be more. The cards are larger than most 19th century tobacco cards, measuring in at 2-3/4" by 4-1/8" in size. They're printed on typical trade card type stock and picture children. The backs of the cards have advertisement for R.A.Patterson Tobacco Company of Richmond, Virginia and their "Lucky Strike" brand. Lucky Strike was a brand that started here as plug tobacco but evolved into a cigarette company by the early turn of the 20th century. The cigarettes were some of the best selling cigarettes of the 1930's and 1940's. Although the Lucky Strike brand is still active today, it is owned by a British tobacco concern.
This lot is for a group of (2) Lucky Strike cards from the N563 series that are in VG to VGEX condition and generally clean. The cards are very difficult to find and this pair are in very nice overall condition and display nicely.
